With the increasing popularity of turning to non-invasive procedures to help us look younger, there are new techniques that address not only the face, but also our hands. Enter the “Hand Lift” performed by Dr. DeGraaff here at the Advanced Life Clinic. As you get older, the hands lose subcutaneous fat which exposes the veins and tendons. Elasticity also weakens which makes the skin appear looser and thin, and finally age spots start to appear as well. The following graphic shows the progression of aging in the hands.
What is a Hand Lift?
By using “wrinkle-fillers” such as Radiesse and Restylane Lyft we can provide volume back to the skin; the veins and tendons become less noticeable and the top of the hand appears smoother. We then use Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments to rid the skin of age spots. The “Hand Lift” can add years back to your hands to help them look younger and hide signs of aging, and as we all know, the hands can give away your REAL age!!
Are there any side effects?
The most common side effects from the Fillers are bruising and slight swelling from the procedure. There my a slight sun burn sensation from the IPL treatment and sunscreen should be worn everyday for a week after the procedure. Also, we caution patients to refrain from exercise for 24 hours after treatment and to periodically apply ice if swelling persists.
How long does the Hand Lift last?
Every patient is different, and there can be issues that affect how long it lasts. Typically the effects can last up to a year in patients and the price for the procedure starts at $1000.
